2026 CUP IRON MULE RALLY, felch michigan

SOMEWHERE DEEP IN THE WOODS OF UPPER MICHIGAN…

Lies Felch, a quiet, unassuming town, but it has a history of something quite the opposite. Its rally history stretches back to the 1973 World Rally Championship. To this day, the town continues to honor this history with the Cup Iron Mule Rally.

For me, Felch carried a little more weight than just another rally on the calendar. Years earlier, I remember reading Peter Hughes’ story about the lost Lancia Stratos and the history surrounding rallying in this part of Michigan. I never knew that, years later, I would find myself here with a camera in hand, experiencing the rally from the other side of the lens. The Cup Iron Mule was my first time photographing a rally, making the opportunity to be in Felch feel like a small connection between something I had once only read about and something I was finally able to experience for myself.
